Contributions to YFU USA help advance and foster cultural understanding and international friendship through international high school immersion programs.  YFU depends on charitable giving to sustain our Annual Fund, as well as funding of important scholarship programs designed to provide opportunities for students worldwide to participate on a YFU program.

Youth For Understanding USA has been designated a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Corporation by the United States Internal Revenue Service. Your contribution is fully tax-deductible as a charitable contribution.

Ways to Give

The YFU Annual Fund

The Annual Fund provides additional annual income that helps YFU USA ensure the quality of programs for our students and families. Currently, fees paid by students do not cover all of YFU’s operating budget. To meet rising expenses and keep program fees affordable, YFU must secure additional funding from private sources.

YFU already receives generous restricted program support from corporations and foundations, but it is the unrestricted operating dollars that are vital to both the short-term and long-term financial health of YFU. The Annual Fund provides funding for student orientations, volunteer training, program recruitment, and country expansion. Thousands of companies match charitable contributions made by their employees through a matching gifts program. This is an easy way to double or triple your contribution to YFU.

The YFU Corporate Scholarship Program

Over forty leading corporations and foundations participate in the Corporate Scholarship Program through YFU. Our corporate and foundation partners recognize the value of international exchange and the importance of investing in the education of high school students. YFU works closely with our sponsors to design a program to meet their needs, often choosing to fund scholarships for employee dependents, or providing scholarships to students from specific communities. YFU handles all of the administrative aspects of the program and offers diverse programming options tailored to criteria determined by our sponsors. With each new scholarship provided to YFU, an opportunity is created for a deserving teenager to participate on a YFU program.

Greatergood.com, a website that donates a percentage of web-based purchases to non-profit organizations, now allows you to choose YFU as your favorite charity. 5-15% of purchases on Greatergood.com will automatically be donated to YFU.
