National Alumni Council (NAC) Dissolves

All About Us...

History of the Alumni Association (coming soon)

After much thought, consideration and discussion by the current National Alumni Council (NAC) members, we have come to the decision to dissolve the current NAC as we know it. We hope that ALL active alumni consider themselves volunteers of YFU USA and that our decision today helps those alumni merge into the broader scope of the current YFU volunteer force. We also realize that alumni who volunteer tend to locally orient themselves to the field instead of to a national level, thus we have come to the conclusion that the NAC needs to transition to a fully automated group of virtual volunteers, who are alumni, and are working as the YFU USA Alumni Association.

As part of the continued alumni support of and connection to YFU USA, the Alumni Association will continue to remain intact and members will work on specific projects including the following:

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our past and present members of the NAC for their service and continued support of YFU USA.

Our goal is to encourage those that have traveled on our programs to volunteer on both local and national levels wherever and whenever possible. Besides fulfilling traditional YFU volunteer roles, we are hoping to create new virtual volunteer roles for alumni looking to work on a national scale.

Jennifer McKendree, Coordinator of Outreach Programs for YFU USA, will now begin to aid and manage this new transition from the NAC and build alumni relations. Jennifer will help to recruit and coordinate our virtual alumni volunteers, work on the alumni database and work with the districts and departments as needed to enhance our rich alumni community. She will also be handling the distribution of email received at alumni@yfu.org. Jennifer may be reached at jmckendree@yfu.org or at 1.800.TEENAGE, ext. 388.

We hope that through this new structure we continue to engage alumni who have an interest in volunteering with YFU USA. We also hope that this is not looked at as the “end” of the NAC, but rather a continuing evolution of YFU USA and the many alumni who actively participate in their volunteer roles.

Sincerely,
Samantha, NAC Chair
