Dear YFU USA Alumnus:
YFU USA invites you to participate in our Amazing Placement Tour 2009!
Placing 2,000 students with host families in the US each year is a challenge requiring
many helpful hands. Our volunteers, staff, current students, and host families are already
participating in efforts to place students arriving this August we now wish to extend
this opportunity to the YFU alumni network.
As a special incentive this year, all alumni whose referrals result in a new family hosting
a 2009-2010 YFU exchange student for at least a semester will be entered into a drawing to
be held September 10, 2009. Additional host families whom you identify to commit to hosting
a 2009 inbound student for at least one semester will result in additional entries into the
drawing, thereby increasing the odds of winning.
For every ten (10) confirmed host families referred by IS returnees and alumni, YFU USA will
draw and award an airfare ticket to Europe (some restrictions apply). YFU USA will raffle
off up to ten (10) international tickets should we recruit 100 or more host families with
this effort.

Prospective host family contact information must include the following:
- Prospective Host Family's Full Name(s)
- Day and Evening Phone Numbers with best time to reach
- City and State of Residence
- Email Address
- Relationship
Please promote our offer to your YFU alumni networks. The deadline for the contest is July 15, 2009.

Amazing Placement Tour 2009 Rules
- To be eligible to enter the drawing for free international airfare, alumni must identify
at least one host family (new to YFU) for the 2009-2010 academic year.
- Once the recommended host family decides to host for a minimum of one semester (or longer)
the referring YFU alumni will be entered into a drawing to be held September 10, 2009.
- Additional host families an alumnus identifies who commit to hosting will result in additional
entries into the drawing, thereby increasing the odds of winning.
- For every ten (10) confirmed host families referred by IS returnees and YFU USA alumni, an
airline ticket redeemable to Europe will be drawn.
- A maximum of up to ten (10) airline tickets will be allocated on the date of the drawing.
- Host families must be found by July 15, 2009.
- Roundtrip airfare will include international and domestic portions of travel to one single
destination.
- YFU USA will issue all airline tickets.
- Tickets must be issued by December 31, 2009 (however, travel can occur after this deadline).
- Recipient must provide two different travel date options.
- Travel is provided on economy coach class. No upgrades are permitted.
- Side trips and hotel/accommodations are the sole responsibility of the traveler.
- Proper documentation such as passport and entry visa is the sole responsibility of the traveler.
- Only electronic tickets will be provided.
- Once tickets are issued, no changes are permitted.

YFU USA is in the midst of a busy Host Family recruitment cycle and we need your help. This year, with the increase in popularity of social networking sites we have come up with new ways you can help us get the word out and tell people about the opportunity to host. Below are NINE (9) ways you can help us recruit new host families today. Please take a few moments to help us spread the word about hosting opportunities with YFU.
Included in this list is a more involved virtual volunteering project, we are looking for alumni who would like search the web and send emails. If you have at least two hours per week or more for the next 6 weeks and would like to spend time finding email groups, forums, message boards and other groups and sending them an email to share with their members we have a great virtual volunteering project for you.
Below not only will you find ideas of how you can share this opportunity but all the tools and sample text you need. All you need to do is post the information and send me an email telling me what you did. If you have more time to commit to doing research and sending emails, email me (Chinnery@yfu.org) and I’ll get you started right away.

Nine Ways YOU Can HELP with YFU Host Family Recruitment TODAY
Sample text and code, all the tools you need to do any of these nine things are below. Whatever you are able to do, please keep me posted on your efforts.
- Send an email to all your friends/co-workers/family – everyone you know about the opportunity to host.
- Post to your blog the opportunity to host (personal blog pages, blogs you are a member of, blogs you regularly read, if appropriate).
- Embed the YFU hosting slide show and PSA (from YouTube) on your myspace/facebook/etc., pages.
- Post Hosting opportunity on your bulletin space on social networking sites (myspace/facebook/friendster/couchsurfing/Bebo, etc).
- Post hosting opportunities in the classifieds sections of social networking sites (myspace/sportsvite/facebook/etc).
- Post hosting opportunity to Classmates.com/Reunion.com (or similar) message boards.
- Stumbleupon.com – if you use stumbleupon.com, please visit yfu-usa.org and rate it.
- Be our friend on MySpace.com and YouTube.com so we can stay connected - visit http://myspace.com/yfu_usa and http://www.youtube.com/YFUUSA07
