SAMPLE MESSAGE TO YOUR FRIENDS/FAMILY/NETWORKS
Please email Chinnery@yfu.org to let me know you sent out an email and to how many people you sent it to. Thanks

Dear Friends and Family,
I want to introduce you to an organization dear to my heart; Youth For Understanding USA (YFU), a non-profit youth exchange program. I thought you might be interested in opening up your home to a global education that can benefit your entire family.

(WRITE A BRIEF PARAGRAPH ABOUT YOUR EXCHANGE AND IT”S MEANING IN YOUR LIFE) EXAMPLE: Almost 19 years ago, I boarded an airplane headed towards an adventure of a lifetime. I was going to France for the summer as YFU exchange student. I lived with a host family for eight weeks. During this time, I saw France as no tourist could. I camped in the Loire Valley, visiting ancient castles. I spent 5 weeks, at their vacation property on an island, at the beach, sleeping in a tent and riding a bicycle around the island. Best of all, I had a new family, whom I am still in contact with today. It was an amazing summer. Little did I know how this experience would shape my future. After college, I became a volunteer with YFU. I have been a volunteer for almost 13 years and staff for the past 4 ∏ years.  YFU has given me a way to fulfill my passions in life by making a difference in the world, creating peace and understanding one student at a time.

It is a busy time for YFU volunteers and staff as they seek host families to make our international students’ dreams come true. Please consider hosting and/or sharing this email with people you think would be interested in hosting. If you are interested, YFU will share profiles of students available in your area. Below you’ll find more information about Youth For Understanding USA and the opportunity to host with YFU.

Youth For Understanding USA is seeking families to host foreign exchange High School Students for the 2007-2008 academic year.

Youth For Understanding (YFU) is a worldwide movement of committed individuals and organizations working together to prepare young people for their responsibilities and challenges in a changing, interdependent global world. Each year YFU places a large number of international exchange students with local families while they attend the local high school.

YFU will welcome new high school international exchange students this August. Our students come from different countries around the world. They speak English, have their own spending money, health insurance, will attend an American high school and will provide innumerable good memories and experiences to your family!

Open your doors to a new family member this summer and help him/her adapt to the U.S. lifestyle and culture. Hosting will be a wonderful opportunity to learn about other traditions and languages without leaving home. Our host families are as diverse as our students. They are couples with or without children, empty nesters, single adults and also come from all cultural and economic backgrounds.

You can host a student for ten months as a permanent host family, or for six or twelve weeks as an arrival family. Our trained YFU staff and volunteers are available to support you every step of the way. If you are interested in hosting a YFU student or would like more information, please contact YFU today at 1-866-493-8872 (District Office) or 1-800-872-0200 for your local Field Director or Lisa Chinnery 303-665-6508, visit www.yfu-usa.org <http://www.yfu-usa.org/>  to apply on-line or e-mail Chinnery@yfu.org.

Message to Post on Bulletin Spaces, Blogs, Online Journals, Message Boards, Email Groups or any other type of group you are a member of that would be appropriate.
Feel free to add your personal connection to YFU.  Please email Chinnery@yfu.org with the information of where you posted this. Thanks
