Some of our fellow exchange students!Hi. My name is Jennifer Moon (nee Haggard). I have volunteered as a contact for the exchange student alumni from the YFU 1989-1990 year abroad to France.

I have wonderful memories of my year abroad. Did your host mother make you homemade crepes? Do you remember wine being on the dinner table every night? Did you pass along with your classmates into Premiere or Terminale, or even (gasp!) undergo the Bac examinations? What are your fondest memories of Burgundy, Brittany, Normandy, etc...?

I also seem to remember a grand birthday party at Amy's host-parents' beach house and a talent show put on at one of our student meetings. There is much more where that came from, but we want to hear about your memories!

Since returning from France, I finished up my last high school courses and then went on to Texas Tech University, earning a degree in (yes, you guessed it!) French and certification to teach. While in college I also volunteered as an alumni and even as an Area Representative for YFU for a short while I still live in Texas, and am currently a French and German language-speaking flight attendant for a major airline. Who would have guessed that my year abroad would have contributed so much to my current career?

What has your year en France brought you?

Please take a moment to send me your updated information at fortuna@austin.rr.com. If you'd like, send a reflection on your exchange experience and/or photographs for posting on the Alumni Corner or our yearbook page.

Who knows, a reunion could be in order!

A la prochaine!
