Ways to Connect... Alumni Contact Network |
General Info | Contacts | Role Hey Y'all! I'm Wendy Maybury and I have just started my quest to bring the 222 of us who spent 1991-1992 in Germany together! You can make my life a bit easier by writing me first at wmaybury@hotmail.com. It's almost been ten years for us! I know I still crave Milka! I spent my orientation course in Stade (outside Hamburg) and my year in Bavaria. I remember landing in Frankfurt and spending the night in Darmstadt. We then got onto our buses to go to the orientation course. My group, the Green Ones (we had a green dot and the number one next to it) ended up in Stade. Natalie Bybee, Laura Riefler, Mark Neuenschwander, Jen King, Casey Fitch, Lada Adamic, LaShonda Williams, Dana Giese, Jeff Basker and I were all so nervous about meeting our families. Especially Natalie Bybee whose family had an Asian sounding last name! We pulled up to the sidewalk where people were waiting with signs and sure enough an Asian man and girl were standing with a "Natalie" sign. I think she was the only AO I knew with a Japanese-German family! Our Orientation group shared space with the Australian YFU students. There I met Andrew Carter from Sydney who has been a buddy ever since. After we all left Stade, I went to school at Gymnasium Weilheim in Bavaria with another YFU student from Finland, Sampo Hietanen. (We actually recently reconnected - it was so fun to reminisce with him!) I lived in both Magnetsried and Rott. I had so many amazing experiences that I still haven't finished my scrapbook! I would like to add stories from our exchange year and images, so if you have any you would like to share please email them! I will update this page soon and if you haven't heard from me yet, you will soon- so get your stories ready! Tschuessi! |
