Remember the taste of raw pickled herring smothered with onions or the joy of ice-skating on the frozen canals? "Tag", "Austebleif" and "Mijn naam is.......und ik ben van Amerika" became our vocabulary. Remember klompen and ijzerkookjes and the excitement of Amsterdam? I still make ijzerkookjes using the recipe from my "mom". So many things that I remember from one of the best years of my life. I decided to become the Alumni Class Contact and try to find all of us who lived in Holland. So far, we seem to be spread far and wide. I hope to hear from everyone and have you all share your memories. All my pictures were lost in my move to the East Coast. I am hoping that some of you have pictures that we can post.

Mijn naam is Laura Brown (nee Lewis) and I lived in California at the time of our adventure. I lived in Arnhem during my year in Holland. When I returned from Holland I was active with the Alumni group near where I lived but then life took me in other directions. Recently, while seeking old classmates, I decided to see what YFU was up to and voila! I found the new alumni site seeking volunteers. I decided then and there that helping the organization that changed my life was what I wanted to do. Now that you are here, if I haven't already spoken with you, please email me at Llbfam@aol.com. I can't wait to share. If anyone has old pictures to share please send them to me so that we can post them here.
