My name is Lauren (Wist) Vorbeck, and when I was 16, I went to Holland as an exchange student with YFU. I was one of 42 students, and it was probably the most influential time in my young life. I was probably not the most typical teen, but I found new friends, a challenge of learning a new culture and new language, and a chance to rediscover myself.

I spent my first three months in Gouda, and transferred from that family to the Familie Roebers, in Tilburg. My time with the Roebers taught me new things about being a family, and helped me with learning about the bigger world around us. When I returned to the U.S., I knew that my world would never be the same. I would never be the same.

Please contact me at llvorb@aol.com to share your memories and to also reconnect to YFU!
