I lived with Sakamoto family in Toyonaka City outside Osaka.  One of my fondest memories is of my little sister Takako taking me to school as her "show and tell" object.  All the children wanted to touch my hair.  I wrote about my experiences in my book called Eating Soup With Chopsticks: Sweet Sixteen in Japan.

Now I work as a restaurant reviewer, art critic, book reviewer, and author in addition to attending graduate school to become a librarian.  Libraries, by the way, provide many opportunities to remain connected internationally like tutoring new immigrants in English.  Our local library also hosted a YFU presentation about scholarship opportunities this year, too.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like to talk about international job hunting (I've worked in Paris), graduate school, or writing.
