Because of Argentina, I ...

... got my undergraduate degree in Latin American Studies and lived in Ecuador during college.

... went to graduate school to learn about international economic development and decided that the US is just as interesting.

... frequently work with the Hispanic community and use my Spanish skills and knowledge of Latin American culture and customs.

... learned to become extremely adaptable, which has made moving around the country and adding to each community in which I live extremely easy and enjoyable.

... hope to someday work on Latin American development issues.

Congress-Bundestag Alumna to Return to Germany

Wendy Gilmer is a Congress-Bundestag alumna and an active volunteer in the New York City field. She is currently an Assistant Treasurer at Commerz Bank, a large German bank, in their Non-Bank Financial Institutions Group. In September, she will be transferred to Frankfurt where she will work as a Credit Analyst for the European and North American Non-Bank Financial Institutions Group. It is because of Wendy's experience as an exchange student in Germany that she chose to pursue this career path.

The New York City field is grateful to Wendy for her hard work and dedication as this past year's American Overseas Coordinator. While her job at Commerz Bank has been a challenging one, she has always found the time to volunteer for YFU and has enriched the experiences of many American and International YFU students. Although we will miss her dearly in New York, we wish Wendy the best of luck in her new position in Germany!

NAC Announces Launch of New Project!

The National Alumni Council is proud to offer its newest project, the Stay-Over Program. This notice is being issued to gain U.S. membership in this worldwide project.

The Stay-Over Program makes it possible for you and other persons connected with alumni to stay overnight at the house of fellow YFUers when you are traveling in foreign countries and here in the U.S. In return, you may get calls from people from other countries and the U.S. who would like to spend a night at your house. The program is currently active in Australia, Denmark, Ecuador, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.

If you are interested in participating in this program or would like more information, please visit the Stay-Over Program page or contact project manager David Jones directly at bridav@prodigy.net.
