Staying Connected

Once you're back from your exchange, it doesn't have to mean your experience is over! You're part of a group of people who have common interests and experiences, and just about everywhere you go, you'll find a YFU alumni network. There are several ways to stay connected with other alumni and YFU: you can be the Alumni Contact for your exchange group (i.e., Germany, Summer, '98), or just get involved in events that are happening in your area! You can also take part in one of our newest programs, the Stay Over Program, and either welcome people into your home, or stay with someone else while you're abroad!

Other opportunities to stay connected and give something back to YFU include joining the Alumni Referral program, participating in one of the 2001 AO Lead Inquiry teams, talking to your parents about hosting an International Student or giving a presentation about your experience at your school or to a community group. Whatever your interests and capabilities, we have something for you. Call your regional office at 1-866-4-YFUUSA or check out our website and get connected!

New Alumni Affairs Coordinator!

The National Alumni Council (NAC) is proud to announce the hiring of the new Alumni Affairs Coordinator, Gino DeLuca. Gino will be assisting the NAC and the YFU-USA Alumni Association with our Universal Post Program Reconnection projects, as well as with many other alumni-related projects. We are excited to have a full-time staff person devoted to alumni issues at YFU.

Gino was born in Bogot‡, Colombia. He studied for five years in La Sabana University in Bogot‡. He has worked as a journalist for a national newspaper in Bogot‡ and with regional newspapers and radio stations. Gino also worked at a private educational institution where he was the Director of the Communications and Publications Office. Gino came to the United States two years ago to learn English and gain work experience in this country.

LIT 2000 a Success!!

I am pleased to report that alumni were instrumental in recruiting 23 students for the 2000 program year. Based on the LIT groupsÕ performance, one alumna has been chosen to receive a $1,000 award. The lucky winner is Tangi Padfield!

We have also awarded a $500 award to the LIT team that recruited the most students. I am pleased to announce that Lisa Chinnery's team in region 60 is the recipient of this award!

Congratulations to Tangi and to the entire region 60 team for their outstanding performance with our inquiries in this pilot project! Also, many thanks to all the other LIT teams for their efforts on behalf of AO student recruitment this year--you have each made a difference in students' lives!
