Over the last year in the Denver Metro area, alumni of all ages have been taking active roles in planning Information Nights, scheduling school presentations, planning and facilitating American Overseas and International Student Orientations, planning social events and an Alumni Reunion/American Overseas Re-Entry orientation.

One of the most recent successful events was theInternational Holiday Caroling in Boulder, CO. It was an event that was brainstormed and planned at the Alumni Reunion in October and many of the planners were new to the YFU volunteer family. All International Students, newly-accepted American Overseas students and, of course, alumni were invited. The afternoon included socializing, and enjoying sweet treats from various countries and Christmas caroling.

What started as mostly a social event became an outreach event as the caroling began. We introduced ourselves at each home we sang for, explained we were with Youth For Understanding International Exchange and where we went on exchange or were from. If they were interested in going on exchange or hosting a student we asked people to call us and gave out business cards to those who were interested. All in all it was a successful event that is indicative of great things to come for Rocky Mountain Alumni!

Hello YFU Alumni! I just want to thank all of you that have made such a great effort to help during the holidays to call potential American Overseas students. By my closest estimation, we contacted about 1000 students over the break! A seemingly impossible task was accomplished with all of your help.
