| The Northeast Region would like to take this opportunity to thank our high school and undergraduate alumni, who have taken the time to do some pretty impressive things such as:
In short, our alumni have done amazing work. Furthermore, their efforts have produced wonderful results. Our young alumni are essential in keeping contact with American applicants current and continuing. Our Region's North owes at least eight applications solely to the efforts of these younger alumni, and for that I am eternally grateful. I hope our alumni enjoy working with YFU as much as I enjoy working with them. They are a tremendous asset to the AO team and to YFU as an organization. Thank you Meaghan, Jordan, Danielle, Kate, Jaime, Rachel, Andrea, Michael, Elissa, Nina, Margie, Lili, Sarah, Noah, Tal, Magdalena, Ben, Molly, Elizabeth, Meghan, Heather, Emily, Tim, Mindy, Emilee, Corinne, Jolene, Lisa, Danielle, Derek, Juliette, Lydia, Vanessa and Genevieve for all you do! The Northeast Regional Office would like to send a special thank you out to Melissa Baucum for assuming the role of LIT Leader for the South or our region, and managing the follow-up effort for that area. Thank you, Melissa! Katrina Bauerlein, Outreach Coordinator

With a little research I discovered that David had his life-changing exchange experience back in 1989, when he spent 6 weeks in Funabashi, Japan on a YFU summer program. Describing his experience as absolutely wonderful, David returned from Japan full of excitement toward international exchange. In 1994, David became reconnected with YFU. He began working with the Peer Support Team in the Chicago-land area, and then later took on the challenge of being the American Overseas Program Scheduler and Presenter, working part-time for the Regional Office. After presenting for 2 years, David landed a full-time teaching job, and could no longer work for the Regional Office. However, he remained very active with volunteer duties ranging from interviewing host families and potential American students, to hosting community presentations. In 1998, when Chicago decided to divide into three separate fields, David Becker became co-Field Manager of the North Chicago area. Today he continues that role, leading his field to be one of the highest American student recruiting fields within the region. With David's passion for exchange, friendly personality, and optimistic attitude toward life, he plays a key role in the success of the American Overseas program within the Chicago-land area. Thank you David for being there, and for all that you do! Stacy Sharples, Outreach Coordinator
