Michele Peters
In late December, the Board of Directors of Youth For Understanding USA unanimously elected
Michele Peters to join the national board effective January 1, 2005. Michele is an alumna of the
YFU program, going to Venezuela in 1986. Since 1993, Michele has volunteered with YFU and continues
to contribute to our mission. Currently she serves as a Program Officer in the Office of Global
Educational Programs at the US Department of State in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
She is also one of YFU USA’s representatives on the YFU International Advisory Council.
Michele served as Acting Field Director in 2000 and is one of the founding members of the National Alumni Council of YFU. She also completed a temporary assignment as the Director of Development for YFU South Africa from October 1999 to February 2000. Michele joins Ulrich Zahlten as the two current Board members who are alumni of YFU.
