of departure.
Academic Requirements: For most programs, a "C" average or better (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) is required.
Enrollment Deposit
The $500 enrollment deposit is the first payment towards your tuition and is due within two
weeks of your acceptance. This payment is refundable in compliance with the Withdrawals and
Refunds information listed below.
Payment Deadlines
Upon your reservation, YFU will send you monthly account statements. Tuition must be paid in
full by the payment deadline. The payment deadlines are April 1 for spring departures and
August 1 for fall departures.
Although your statement will show the full charge for your program, you may make monthly
payments on your account balance, as long as full payment is received by the above
deadlines.
Program Fee and Additional Costs
Fees vary by program. Please refer to the individual program web pages for program costs.
Program fees are not based on length of the program and will not be prorated or discounted
if departure is delayed or an early return is requested.
Additional Costs
Though most expenses are included in your program fee, you will need to budget separately for
passport fees, personal spending money, luggage tariffs, any applicable international airport
taxes, optional trips or expenses during trips, telephone calls, and some meals.
Short-term Agriculture and Energy programs
Tuition fee for up to 3 credits is additional, through a sponsoring college.
College Credit semester program
Additional fees for books or course materials may apply. International air travel costs and
insurance are not included in this program fee.
Passports
Students are responsible for getting their own passports. Find out more information at the U.S.
State Department website. Be sure to apply at least 10 weeks before departure. YFU requires a copy
of your passport one month before departure.
Travel Arrangements
Two-week Agriculture and Energy Programs: Your YFU tuition includes round-trip domestic
and international travel from these cities: Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Baltimore, Tampa, and
Tulsa. Tulsa is an additional $60 fee. Departure from other cities will be priced upon request.
Personal travel while overseas is not included.
Fall Academic Semester Program: Students may work with YFU Travel, at 1-800-705-9510, to
arrange ticketing.
Withdrawals and Refunds
If you find you cannot participate, you must notify CCP staff in writing. The amount of
your refund will be based on the date YFU receives written notice of your withdrawal.
Students who cancel from the program at any time will be able to roll their $50 application
fee over to the next program year.
All cancellation policies are in effect regardless of the application date, acceptance status
of your YFU application, or method of payment.
The admissions process is ongoing and YFU reserves the right to reassess the status of accepted
students. Also, note that due to foreign countries' varying views on medication, YFU partners
may have a more difficult time securing a host family in their country for students taking
anti-depressant, anxiety, or attention deficit disorder medication. If a host family cannot be
found, then students may be subject to cancellation and given a refund of all payments except the
$50 non-refundable application fee.
If you cannot participate, you must notify CCP/YFU staff in writing. If YFU receives your written notification of withdrawal from the program by Friday, May 2, you are entitled to a full refund less the $50 application fee. If YFU receives your written notification to withdraw after Friday, May 2, you are entitled to a refund of the program fee LESS the following: $200 administrative fee; $1,100 airline fee; and $50 application fee. Refunds will reimburse college grants before reimbursing applicants.
