The $75 application fee does not apply if students are ONLY applying for the Mazda Employee Scholarship and no other YFU scholarships.

Eligibility
Mazda Foundation National Program (Code 117): Open to high school students with freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior class standing at the time application is submitted. Students must be non-smokers. Only US citizens may apply. Previous recipients of a YFU scholarship to Japan are not eligible.
(Mazda/Nationwide Community)
- Mazda Foundation Flat Rock Community High School Scholarship (Code 272): Open to students attending Flat Rock Community High School in Michigan. Students must be non-smokers. Only US citizens may apply. Previous recipients of a YFU scholarship are not eligible. (Mazda/Flat Rock HS, MI)
Mazda Foundation Employee Program (Code 116): Open to high school students who are dependents of full-time employees of Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) and Mazda dealers and distributors (not including employees of AutoAlliance International, Inc.). Parents must be employed with Mazda at the time students are notified of award. Students must be non-smokers. Only US citizens and legal residents may apply. Previous recipients of a YFU scholarship to Japan are not eligible.

April 2, 1991, and April 1, 1994.

- Host Family Letter
- 5 Responses to Short Answer Essay Questions

Scholarship Covers:
- Round-trip international travel
- Round-trip domestic travel
- Placement with a carefully selected host family
- Regional orientation for scholarship recipients and parents
- Preparatory materials
- Three-day Japan specific orientation at the beginning of the program
- Support services in host country
Scholarship Recipients are Responsible for:
- Passport
- Visa fees (if necessary)
- Any excess luggage tariffs
- Required overseas medical insurance (many insurance policies will cover students while traveling abroad)
- Personal spending money
- Upon returning home, scholarship winners are expected to complete at least one presentation in their school or community to share their experiences, teach others about the culture in their host country, and encourage other students to participate in foreign exchange.

All applicants will be notified by mail of their status in April.

name and code on your application. All scholarship recipients are required to
travel on the YFU group travel dates, and to complete the entire program. For
