Eligibility
- One full summer scholarship for a student attending public or private high school in Washtenaw County, MI. A total of one scholarship will be granted. Students applying for this program may not apply for other Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing Scholarships. Only US citizens may apply. Previous recipients are not eligible. Applicants to Japan must have a birth date that falls between April 2, 1990 and April 1, 1993. (TEMA Washtenaw Co (MI))
- One full summer scholarship for a student attending public or private high school in Boone, Campbell or Kenton County, Kentucky. A total of one scholarship will be granted. Students applying for this program may not apply for other Toyota Motor Manufacturing Scholarships. High school students in other Kentucky counties should apply to the TMM-Kentucky Community scholarship (code: 181) as described on the TMM-Kentucky scholarship sheet at www.yfu-usa.org. Only US citizens may apply. Previous recipients are not eligible. Applicants to Japan must have a birth date that falls between April 2, 1990 and April 1, 1993. (TEMA/Community)
- One full summer scholarship for a high school student who is a dependent of a full-time, payrolled employee of Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America (TEMA). Parent must be employed with TEMA at the time students are notified of award. Previous recipients are not eligible. Applicants to Japan must have a birth date that falls between April 2, 1990 and April 1, 1993. (TEMA/Employee)
Age Requirements
Applicant's birth date must fall between
September 1, 1989, and June 15, 1993.

Scholarship Covers:
- Round-trip international travel
- Round-trip domestic travel
- Placement with a carefully selected host family
- Regional orientation for scholarship recipients and parents
- Preparatory materials
- Support services in host country
- Three-day Japan specific orientation at the beginning of the program (if going to Japan)
Scholarship Recipients are Responsible for:
- Passport
- Visa fees (if necessary)
- Any excess luggage tariffs
- Required overseas medical insurance (many insurance policies will cover students while traveling abroad)
- Personal spending money
- Upon returning home, scholarship winners are expected to complete at least one presentation in their school or community to share their experiences, teach others about the culture in their host country, and encourage other students to participate in foreign exchange.

All applicants will be notified by mail of their status in April.
