Carl Sandburg College (CSC)
Carl Sandburg College, located in Galesburg, Illinois, welcomed
students to its campus for the first time in 1967. With a student body of
approximately 3,000, the college prides itself on offering students small
sized classes, a strong faculty, and progressive technology. Among other
majors, the college has a strong Early Childhood Education and Agri-business program.
Independence Community College (ICC)
Established in 1925, Independence Community College sits on 68 acres
in Independence, Kansas, an agricultural region also noted for its oil activities. Serving
1,500 students, ICC is an educational service center for communities located within a
radius of 50 miles. ICC offers 62 associate degrees and 11 certificate programs, ranging
from political science to cosmetology to fine arts. A comprehensive program of physical
education, intramural sports, and inter-scholastic activities is available at ICC. Students with interests in such areas as music, theater, and radio can become involved in
organizations centered around the performing arts and the media. In addition,
participation in the Student Senate can help students become acquainted with the processes
of the American government.
Lincoln Trail College (LTC)
Lincoln Trail College is one of three YFU Partner
Colleges from the Illinois Eastern Community Colleges District. Located in Robinson, Illinois, the college has a full-time equivalent
student body of 1,138. Among its academic strengths are
telecommunications technology, nursing, secretarial, and university transfer
programs. While attending Lincoln Trail College, students will benefit
from a wide variety of student services; including student clubs, a physical
education complex, the learning resource center, and a large number of
theatrical performances.
Marshalltown Community College
(MCC)
Marshalltown Community College is "the place to be" for young
adults who want to explore many career, vocational, educational, social, and
growth opportunities! Located just four miles south of downtown
Marshalltown, Iowa, the campus is close to shops and restaurants and is
accessible via a regularly scheduled bus service. The college is home to
approximately 1,200 full and part-time students.
The college offers one- and two-year programs in several fields,
including Accounting, Broadcast Technology, Business Administration, Child
Development, Computer Applications and Network Management, Computer Science,
Construction and Carpentry Technology, Criminal Justice, Human Services,
Industrial Maintenance Technology, Machine Trades, Marketing, CAD
Technology, Nursing, and Office Technologies.
MCC Campus Facilities include a large library with free access to
computers, a full-service gym with basketball and volleyball courts, a
racquetball court, and a fitness center, as well as a full service Student
Union and Cafeteria. The college is also proud of its 30-acre Biology Study
Area, which houses a two-acre pond, 10 acres of native prairie, a butterfly
arboretum, and a large botanical collection. The Ray Frederick Art Gallery
draws large crowds for its monthly exhibits. In addition to industry
training and computer access, students are eligible to receive assistance at
the Math Lab, Nursing Lab, and Writing Center.
The college’s athletic program has expanded in the past two years. MCC
sponsors a spirit squad - similar to cheerleading - and several
intercollegiate teams. There are men’s and women’s teams in basketball,
softball, volleyball, and golf. Men’s teams are also active in baseball
and soccer. For a more informal athletic environment, students are
encouraged to become involved in a variety of intramural sports. Other
campus organizations include an International Student Association, an Honors
Program, vocal and instrumental music groups, Phi Theta Kappa (honorary
society), an active theatre program (MC-Squared), an on-campus television
station, Student Activities Council, and Student Senate.
Neosho County Community College (NEOSH)
Neosho County Community College has been located on 50
beautifully landscaped acres in Chanute, Kansas since 1968. Neosho County offers courses in a variety of subjects including
seven major areas of concentration: Educational Programs and Services, Student Services,
Physical Resources, Human Resources, Community Relationships, Fiscal Resources, and
Information Services and Technologies. Academic buildings feature well-equipped and
comfortable classrooms as well as up-to-date laboratories. The campus
has a theater with seating for over three hundred and a gymnasium which serves a number of
sporting events. For additional cultural events, the community offers an interesting museum.
Northwest State Community College (NSCC)
Northwest State Community College is a progressive, two year,
state-supported institution serving five counties in northwest Ohio. The
college is situated on 80 acres of land in Archbold, Ohio, which is about
60 miles west of Toledo. The college complex consists of three wings, all
of which are attached by an open atrium. Approximately 3,000 students are
enrolled at Northwest State Community College (NSCC). The students can
select courses in fields such as Accounting, Biology, Business
Administration, Chemistry, Computer Technologies, Criminal Justice, Early
Childhood Education, Economics, English, History, Literature, Mathematics,
Social Work, and Sociology.
In addition to quality academics, NSCC offers students opportunities to
participate in extra curricular activities such as intramural basketball,
volleyball, bowling, ping pong, flag football, and billiards. On campus, a
day care facility, fitness center, recreational area, and various special
interest clubs are available for students. Other recreational facilities,
including a swimming pool, basketball court, tennis court, and track field
are located in the surrounding communities.
Olney Central College (OCC)
Located in southeastern Illinois, Olney Central College is part of
the Illinois Eastern Community Colleges District. OCC enrolls
approximately 2,000 students each semester and offers five Associate Degree programs and
over 25 vocational certificate programs in such fields as cosmetology, nursing, marketing
& distribution, business, and agriculture.
OCC provides a wide variety of student services, from a Learning
Skills Center, to a Fitness Center equipped with an impressive Aerobic Super-Circuit
Program, to a Student Center. OCC has intercollegiate sports teams in men's baseball,
women's softball and volleyball, and men's and women's basketball and tennis, as well as
intramural sports. Many special interest clubs and activities are also available,
such as a Business Club, various publications, a Student Art Symposium, Student
Senate, and opportunities for community service. Southern
Maine Community College (SMCC)
As Maine’s largest community college with more than 3,000 students, SMCC offers a variety of excellent
programs in Applied Technologies, Arts and Sciences, Health Sciences, Business and Computers, and Public
Service. The college has transfer agreements with numerous four-year institutions that allow you to apply
a full two years’ worth of SMCC credits toward a four-year degree.
Look out the windows of most buildings on campus and you’ll see wide blue ocean. To the west, take in
Portland’s skyline and to the east, gorgeous sand beaches. The 80-acre campus juts into Portland Harbor,
surrounded on three sides by water. A working lighthouse flashes to ships in the bay.
In intercollegiate sports, SMCC’s teams repeatedly bring home the trophy. The men’s and women’s
teams compete in regional and national championships in soccer, softball, baseball, and basketball in the
Yankee Small College Athletic Association. Athletics are a thriving part of campus life. Students can work
out or use the basketball and volleyball courts in the gymnasium. The sports schedule includes eight
varsity sports, while intramural programs provide fun and exercise for all. In addition to sports
programs, the college offers an active student government, student newspaper, chorus, theater, academic
honor society, and various clubs, including an international club.
Whatever your goals, SMCC is committed to helping you succeed. SMCC faculty members work closely with
students as they gain understanding and skill. The Advising Center helps students select the appropriate
courses and the walk-in Learning Assistance Center provides academic assistance as needed.
University of Wisconsin - Marinette
(UWM)
University of Wisconsin - Marinette is located on the shores of Lake
Michigan's Green Bay. Downtown Marinette and downtown Menominee, Michigan are both within
a five-minute drive of the campus.
The hub of student life is the student lounge/cafeteria wing of the
main administration building. Science laboratories and computer classrooms are
in a second wing. Art facilities include a 392 seat theater, gallery, visual arts studios,
and photographic laboratories. The library building, which contains a computer laboratory,
overlooks Green Bay. Completing the four-building complex is the Max E. Peterson Field House
with gym, Nautilus room, and six-lane swimming pool. Outside of the classroom students have
the opportunity to participate in intramural and varsity sports and many student
organizations.
University of Wisconsin - Richland
(UWR)
The University of Wisconsin -
Richland is surrounded by rolling hills and rich farmland, apple orchards, and
wooded ridges in Richland
Center, Wisconsin. A University of Wisconsin system campus, UR enrolls
approximately 400 students, providing a strong liberal arts
curriculum and a Guaranteed Transfer option to four-year UW campuses. UWR
has many courses that emphasize writing and speaking abilities, excellent
programs in theater, music, and art, and a new certificate program in
environmental studies. A highlight of UWR's 135-acre
campus is the Symons Recreation Complex with heated indoor swimming, racquetball,
aerobics, and weight lifting, as well as outdoor facilities such as tennis
and basketball courts
and a 5 km cross country/ski course. Sports opportunities include
intercollegiate soccer, basketball and volleyball teams, and a wide
variety of intramural activities.
Wabash Valley College (WVC)
Located on 120 scenic acres in Mount Carmel, Illinois, the Wabash
Valley College campus is complex with its modern facilities surrounded by a lake and
enhanced by several wooded areas.
Whatcom Community College (WCC)
Whatcom Community College is located in the "college town" of Bellingham, Washington,
not far from the USA/Canada border. This area offers much
history and culture to students; the Lummi Indian Nation and Northwest Indian College are
both located in or near Bellingham. WCC enrolls more than 6,500
students, including approximately 135 international students from nearly 35
countries.
The
college offers a wide variety of academic courses and certificate programs: anthropology, business administration, nursing, art, philosophy, computer science,
early childhood education, biology, music, and medical assisting.
WCC just completed
its new gymnasium and student center, thus providing students with a variety of athletic
and recreational facilities.
In
addition, WCC offers other interest clubs, including a campus newspaper, a college
chorale, and a college orchestra.
